Pre-canon Kris is often described as odd, a prankster, sometimes even creepy. They're close to their elder brother Asriel and have slightly strained but loving relationships with their divorced parents, Asgore and Toriel. They also have a very long history with the Holiday family due to the parents of both families being college friends, and they were once very close with Noelle Holiday and her elder sister December (or "Dess"). Interestingly, they are the only human in Hometown, the rest of their neighbors being monsters. This includes their own family--- Kris is presumably adopted though the circumstances of this are unknown. They seem to be well-liked by their neighbors broadly, but have a reputation for being distant and unwilling to apply themself, especially in school, and they don't often hang out with other kids their age or participate in extracurriculars. They go to church, but only for the sick fruit juice.

Throughout canon, Kris discovers that they are the hero of an ancient prophecy, which bids them to travel the Dark World with Susie, a classmate, and Ralsei, a native Darkner. They alone have the power to seal the Dark Fountains and prevent the Roaring, an event which threatens to plunge the entire world into neverending night. There are still many mysteries to solve, but alongside their friends, Kris may truly have the power to save the world.

ACT and SPARE

In lieu of fighting, Kris can handle combat situations by knowing the correct actions to take to befriend their opponent. Whether that be through assuaging their troubles, appealing to their sense of humor, or flirting with inanimate objects, Kris is capable of reaching a truce with almost any combatant--- but must dodge elaborate attacks between opportunities to ACT. However, once enough ACTs have been completed, they can simply SPARE the enemy, ending the combat situation. They can use this technique outside the Dark World with opponents that are potentially amenable, so let me know if you'd like to use it in a thread!

Determined Soul

Inside of Kris, there is a little red heart that acts as the source of all of their strength. It guides them in making decisions, sometimes just a little bit against their preference, and generally has their best interest at heart. This is their Soul, but it is also a sapient, independent entity. More specifically, it's me. Yes, me, the player. They can occasionally remove the Soul from their body and trap it, leaving it (or rather, me) behind to go do their own thing. While this isn't a particularly pleasant physical experience and is extremely painful and draining, sometimes Kris needs a little Them Time. When this happens in a thread, I will create three potential courses of action and use RNG to let Kris "pick" for themself without my input. Let me know if this is something you want to explore!

Create and Seal Dark Fountains

By concentrating their will into a blade and striking at the earth, Kris can create pocket dimensions where inanimate objects become people and go on magical adventures. However, at the end of each, they must use the power of their Soul to seal the Fountain that allows this world to exist. Leaving a Dark Fountain unattended could create a catastrophe! I would be delighted to create a Dark World as part of a thread, if this is something anyone wants to explore.
